Larry Scott is a bodybuilding legend. Vince Gironda took Larry under his wing at a young age and they built one of the best physiques in bodybuilding.
Larry Scott went on to win the first-ever Mr. Olympia competition in 1965.
Larry’s physique was world-class, but his arms reigned supreme. When Larry took to the stage, the world had never seen arms of that size and shape.
This is how Larry built his arms.

Bicep Workout
Alongside Vince Gironda, Larry Scott pioneered the preacher curl and made it mainstream. Larry favored tri-sets to attack both heads of the bicep. Below is one of his workouts.
- Dumbbell Preacher Curls – 3×6
- Barbell Preacher Curls – 3×6
- Reverse EZ Bar Curl – 3×6
Perform all exercises back to back with no rest.
After finishing the final exercise, rest for 2-3 minutes.
Repeat the circuit 4 times.
Tricep Workout
Larry trained his triceps in a similar fashion. Perform three exercises in a tri-set to hit all three tricep heads. Try the workout below.
- Close Grip Bench Press – 3×6
- Cable Overhead Tricep Extension – 3×6
- Dumbbell Kickback – 3×6
For biceps and triceps, aim to complete 6 full reps with perfect form. Push for any partial reps after failure. This is how Larry trained, but never exceed 10 reps.
